FIVB Durban Open beach volleyball World Event, 11-15 December 2013

South Africa, Durban. This Friday, 6 December, sees the national launch of the FIVB City of Durban Open Beach Volleyball Championship. This coincides with the National Tour that stretches from 6–8 December. The beach volleyball fans of the 'surf-city' Durban are eagerly anticipating the Championship, which is scheduled to take place at New Beach from 11-15 December. The event will bring the curtain down on the FIVB's (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) 2013 beach volleyball championships.
Former champion KZN Provincial volleyball player Sunil Geness says:  "I am confident that our well-co-ordinated media blitz will create the desired awareness of the global beach volleyball event in our city – where the 'fun never sets’. To this end, we are bracing ourselves for a huge turnout of fans and the general public for the entire duration of this year’s sizzling beach volleyball event."
In addition to watching the world's best beach volleyball players from 28 countries in action, Geness said that the public can look forward to getting their hands on attractive give-aways from the promoters.  “With public viewing being free of charge, be in the stands if you want to be a winner,” says Geness.
Meanwhile, South Africa's 2016 Olympic Games' hopefuls, Freedom Chiya and Grant Goldschmidt head the country's top male contenders for the FIVB's final leg in Durban. Joining Chiya and Goldschmidt for the FIVB Durban Open are Jerome Fredericks and Leo Williams; and Clinton Stemmet and Jamaine Naidoo.
