·         Called the Business Orientation Program (BOP), the enriching 11-day long programme is designed for the first year students and involves lectures by the Indian corporate giants from BFSI, FMCG, manufacturing, consulting, infrastructure, digital and social media, automotive, agri-business, commodity services, telecom and business analytics sectors among others.
·         The 3rd edition of BOP was launched at IMT, Hyderabad this week, helping outline the dynamics pertaining to a particular sector with leaders sharing their experiences in building a successful and sustainable business. The event started with Mr. Challa Rajendra Prasad, MD of CCL Products (India) Ltd talking about his journey in making his company the largest exporter of instant coffee from India. In his advice to the students he mentioned that dedication is the key to success. His entrepreneurial spirit surely motivated all the students.
·         Mr. Sanjeev Aggarwal, Senior MD of Helion Advisors Pvt. Ltd spoke about the initial days of struggle during the 80s and 90s when starting a business in India required working closely with the Government, how he persevered in these efforts and started a venture capital business in the late nineties. He later started Daksh, which in four years became the fastest growing BPO Services Company in the country.  Mr. Aggarwal stressed on the need for cross-functional knowledge and the value of investing in companies one wants to see grow. He spoke about the need for innovative businesses requiring young, fresh ideas and execution intensive businesses requiring cross-functional experience.
·         Mr. Ramana Prasad Alam, CEO of Amara Raja Electronics was present to share his keen insights and extensive industry experience with the students of the institution. Amara Raja is one of India's leading conglomerates and offers a wide range of products from batteries, power solutions to electronics and fruit juices. Prasad’s interactive session took the students through the successful three decades of Amara Raja Group. The crux of his session was on the need for companies to adapt to changing market realities and to be prepared to face disruptive scenarios when industries are morphing, boundaries merging. Capturing the growth of his company through the years, he lucidly highlighted how a company could turn its future around by always staying connected with the customers.
·
·         Mr. Ramesh Iyer, MD & CEO of Mahindra Finance also visited the campus. The audience were held captive by his charming personality and intellectual thoughts. He highlighted the need to improve strengths rather than focus on weaknesses. As a key take away from the session, students mentioned that they learnt Greed should never overtake judgement”. More insights such as “Always respect what you get and the most of it” enthralled and inspired the students.
·         Another speaker, Mr. Rahul Chowdhury, Co-founder & Board Member of Reboot Systems India Pvt. Ltd. spoke about ‘Analytics and Entrepreneurship’, an area he is most passionate about. A visionary and a first generation entrepreneur, Mr. Chowdhury began his address to the students by mentioning that education is about laying a foundation to figure out what needs to be done for the future and it is not just about books.
·         To the young budding entrepreneurs, he said, “Entrepreneurs don’t have everything figured out; that there are hundred choices – all imperfect; the challenge is to make that one choice that is most perfect of those imperfect choices.” His vivid account of the journey as a student, a corporate employee and later as a business graduate at the prestigious Kellogg School of Management, Illinois, USA inspired the students.
·         Ms. Saundarya Rajesh, Founder & President, AVTAR Career Creators & Flexi Careers India, visited the campus to address the institute’s students today. Described as a maverick entrepreneur, she made the students cognizant about the absence of the concept of a sustainable career for women in the early 90s. The impediments faced by her at that time made her lay the foundation for AVTAR Career Creators. The organization believes in gender diversity and inclusion of women in corporate India.
·         Ms. Rajesh took the students through her inspiring journey as a woman entrepreneur in a particularly novel sector and the successful creation of a niche market. AVTAR Career Creators stands for recruitment, talent strategy and talent acquisition and most importantly, giving women a second chance to enjoy a career.
·         Mr. Ashish Kumar Chauhan – Managing Director and CEO of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) addresed students at the IMT Campus in Hyderabad on Saturday, 16th November. Chauhan felt, “If you want to be on the top always, start doing new things every day, keep adding value to yourself every day”. This faith has taken Chauhan to where he stands today. The humblest of people are never afraid to accept their deficiencies.
·          Chauhan, in shifting from a Gujarati medium to English, faced problems, acknowledged them and eventually overcame them. There was no stopping him then.
·         From setting up NSE to working towards financial inclusion, he has always been sincere to his job. Spot, forward and options trade can explain everything in life, according to him. He explained the concept of agreement to exchange and settlements – giving students a new insight that were unaware of. Chauhan is of the view that not just various stock markets, but also any technologically intensive industry was a competition to BSE. He strongly believes that we have to learn as a society to bring to an end what is not relevant in order to evolve and progress.
·         During the BOP, a student team called ‘anchor team’ is assigned to each business leader. This team undertakes extensive research on the sector, analyzing the characteristics as well as the challenges in the sector. The anchor team helps in enhancing the session learning by raising current issues as well as posing questions of relevance which would be beneficial to every prospective employee in that sector. At the end of the program, the students are evaluated on any two sectors of their choice thus helping reinforce and crystallize key learning. The faculty evaluates students after taking inputs from the respective business leader.
·         Dr. Debasis Chatterjee – CEO of Netxcell Ltd,  Sudip Bandopadhyay – MD & CEO of Destimoney Securities Pvt.
