INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY, HYDERABAD STUDIES SUSTAINABLE CAREERS FOR INDIAN WOMEN & HR CONSULTING AT EXCLUSIVE ‘BUSINESS ORIENTATION PROGRAM – 2013’


Hyderabad, November 14, 2013: As part of the ongoing ‘Business Orientation Program (BOP) – 2013’ at Institute Of Management Technology, Hyderabad, Ms. Saundarya Rajesh, Founder & President, AVTAR Career Creators & Flexi Careers India, visited the campus to address the institute’s students today.

Ms. Rajesh, who is described as a maverick entrepreneur, began her session by saying that any entrepreneur should have an idea to start obsessing about until it transforms into a fruitful venture.

She made the students cognizant about the absence of the concept of a sustainable career for women in the early 90s. The impediments faced by her at that time made her lay the foundation for AVTAR Career Creators. The organization believes in gender diversity as well as inclusion of women in corporate India.

Ms. Rajesh took the students through her inspiring journey as a woman entrepreneur in a particularly novel sector and the successful creation of a niche market. AVTAR Career Creators stands for recruitment, talent strategy and talent acquisition and most importantly, giving women a second chance to enjoy a career.

Her second venture, Flexi Career India, is a social enterprise that deals with the women’s workforce spearheading the right to flexible working. She concluded the session by saying that it is not work-life balance but work-life integration, which builds up one’s career.

She moved into talent strategy consulting by founding AVTAR Career Creators in 2000 and AVTAR I-WIN (Interim Women manager's Interface Network) in 2005. AVTAR I-WIN is India's first National registry for flexi-working women professionals - an endeavour, which engages with both individuals and corporate houses to create work-life integrated careers. Ms. Rajesh has over 20 years of work experience, which began with her tenure at Citibank in 1990. She has subsequently worked full-time and flexi-time in assignments in management education, consulting and counseling, each adding a different dimension to her personality.
The Business Orientation Program (BOP) at IMT Hyderabad is conducted every year for duration of two weeks in the month of November. The purpose of this program is to help students discern and perceive the corporate structure in detail and make use of extensive career opportunities available to them. A number of distinguished industry experts from various sectors visit the campus and address students on a variety of topics over two weeks.

This synergy between the academia--industry is one of the most crucial  pedagogic initiatives taken up by IMT Hyderabad, which offers two year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), approved by AICTE. The PGDM program facilitates interactive learning through case studies, simulations, real time projects, workshops etc. It also incorporates a 14-16 week faculty supervised industry internship at the end of the 1st year.

IMT is a leading educational establishment rated among the top 10 business schools in India, with campuses in Ghaziabad, Nagpur, Dubai and Hyderabad.
